Antiochian Orthodox Christian Mission
Sussex
County, Delaware
We
are a
mission of the Antiochian
Orthodox Christian
Archdiocese
And
the
disciples were called Christians
first in Antioch. (Act 11:26)
Glory
to Jesus Christ!
Troparion
of Saint Andrew
- November
30th
(Tone 4):
| As
the first-called Apostle and brother of their leader, O Andrew;
intercede with the Master of all to grant peace to the world, and to
our souls great mercy. |
Prayer
Before the icon of the
Theotokos:
| Since
thou art a
well-spring of tenderness, O Theotokos, make us worthy of compassion;
Look upon a sinful people; Manifest thy power as ever, for hoping on
thee we cry aloud unto thee: Hail! as once did Gabriel, chief Captain
of the Bodiless Powers. |
Prayer
Before the icon of Christ
(Tone 2):
| We
reverence thy
spotless icon, O gracious Lord, and ask forgiveness of our
transgressions, O Christ our God: for of thine own good will thou wast
pleased to ascend the Cross in the flesh, that thou mightest deliver
from bondage to the enemy those whom thou hadst fashioned. Wherefore,
we cry aloud unto Thee: Thou hast filled all things with joy, O our
Savior, for Thou didst come to save the world. |
Troparion
of the Forerunner (Tone 2):
| The
memory of the just is mentioned
with praise. As for you, O Forerunner, the Lord's witness is enough:
indeed, you were greater than the prophets since you were found worthy
to baptize in the waters the one they could but announce. You have
fought for the sake of truth and proclaimed to those in hades that God
who appeared in the flesh has taken away the sins of the world and
bestowed his great mercy upon us.. |

The mission community of Saint Andrew the Apostle,
Lewes, Delaware, welcomed His Grace, Bishop Thomas for a most blessed
weekend November 19th and 20th. Also joining in the very special
weekend observances was Father Nicholas Alford of the Church of Saint
Gregory, Washington, D.C. along with the Deacon Raphael Garcia and a
number of parishioners from D.C.. Also coming for the weekend were
Father Adrian Budica and Khouriye Viktoriia from the Saint Nicholas
Cathedral in Brooklyn, NY. And also present were Subdeacons
Joseph Kavchok from Saint Paul, Emmaus, PA, Jason Flowers from
the Holy Ascension Mission, West Chester, PA and Benjamin Daniel of
Saint Philip, Souderton, PA. A very delicious supper
was furnished by the Antiochian Women of Saint Andrew following the
Vespers Saturday evening.

Our parishioners and visitors
packed the Grange Hall for the Sunday Orthros and Hierarchical Divine
Liturgy, during which Deacon Raphael was elevated to the Holy
Priesthood. AXIOS! May God grant Father Raphael and
his Khouriye Josephine Many Years! After the Liturgy,
Sayidna and the clergy and our parishioners and visitors were hosted to
a festive buffet at the spacious home of parishioners.

Bishop Thomas spoke encouraging words
to the mission urging us to continue to grow and reach out to those
around us as we prepare to build a church to serve southern
Delaware. (Note: as of this writing the church plan
has been approved by Sussex County Planning and Zoning).

Father Boniface Black and the Saint
Andrew parishioners invite all coming to the Delaware Beaches to visit
and worship with us. We are your Orthodox Church away from home,
whether you are a beach visitor, a second home visitor, or a second
home owner and planning to relocate to the area. You are
welcome! Divine Liturgy is 9:30 a.m. every Sunday.
